X-ROADS AT THE FIREHALL ARTS CENTRE
Kokoro Dance presented X-Roads at the Firehall Arts Centre (280 E. Cordova St.) March 7-12, at 8 PM
X-Roads was a new work for thirteen dancers with music by Robert J. Rosen and lighting by Gerald King. Choreographed by Barbara Bourget and Jay Hirabayashi, X-Roads is where ballet and butoh meet, where gravity and levity merge, where past and future challenge the present. In the slipstream of modern dance and butoh, Kokoro Dance moves in ways never seen before. Galvanizing the energy of thirteen dancers, Kokoro Dance charts new directions in dance.
Performing in X-Roads were dancers Ingmar Bergsma, Barbara Bourget, Salome Diaz, Sara Dorsey, Jay Hirabayashi, Naomi Lefebvre, Jerry Longboat, Jennifer McKinley, Jennifer Murray, Lana Olson, Kristine Richmond, Janna-Jo Scheunhage, and Michael Whitfield.
